Underfloor Heating
Electric Underfloor Heating
Are Especially suited for remodelled floors and new construction projects.
Electric underfloor heating systems are most suitable for bathrooms, kitchens, conservatories and any general living areas where ceramic or stone tiles are laid.
The cable mats or cable with fixings can be installed to give two heating levels: 160W/m3 for direct heat and 100W/m3 for indirect heat (background heat).
Comfort
Electric underfloor heating is a form of Radiant Type Heating. This kind of heating is a gentle comfortable heating that is silent, economical and efficient. Radiant heating does not heat the air, it heats the person and surrounds such as furniture. It provides and even form of heat in a room and is therefore more economical and energy efficient.
Is it expensive to run?
Take an average bathroom with a free area of 2.3m3. The mat that is suitable for this area is 2.1m3 and electrical output of this mat is 340W. Therefore the running costs for such a room are less than 5 cent an hour.
Economical
Underfloor heating not only makes for a more comfortable environment, it is a more economical one. Typical operating temperatures can be 1 to 2 degrees lower than conventional heaters, reducing energy costs by as much as 10%.
Simple to Control
4-event clock thermostat, type OCC
The OCC is an electronic digital thermostat with a built-in timer specially developed to provide heating comfort while using as little energy as possible. the OCC thermostat is equipped with a small microprocessor which contains a preset 4-event program which will automatically controls the heating system, using different temperatures at different times. This means the installer does not waste time on programming the thermostat. Supplied with floor sensor.
Thermostat with setback mode type OTN
The OTN is an electric on/off thermostat with control of temperature by means of an NTC sensor. the heat output is switched on and off with a differential of only 0.4oC. the red LED indicates when the heating is on. The temperature range +5'C/+40'F for easy setting of required temperature. IP 21. Supplied with floor sensor.
Maintenance Free
Once the Electric underfloor heating is installed and tested as per the installation instructions, the system is maintenance free.
The cables have a 10 year warranty and the thermostat has a 2 year warranty.
Easy to Install
The heating mat is easily and quickly installed the double sided adhesive tape on the underside of the mat can easily be affixed to any clean surface.
Each mat can be cut to fit around corners and objects as demonstrated here.
Cable Construction
the twin core cable construction means only a single connection for each mat.
The cable is earthed making it suitable for use in bathrooms or other wet areas.
A qualified electrician in accordance with the current wiring regulations should install the electric underfloor heating
Floor Types
The electric underfloor heating mats can be installed ion timber or concrete floors.
Timber Floors
Suitable tile backer board must be laid over the floorboards and chipboard before the heating mat is put in place. The heating mat is fixed to the tile backer board and completely covered with an approved Kiilto floor screed and/or flexible tile adhesive before the tiles are laid.
Concrete Floors
We suggest that an insulated tile backer board is laid over and fitted on the concrete floor before the heating mat is put in place. The insulated tile backer board greatly reduces the heat-up time of the floor and insulates the floor from downward heat losses.
Please Note: Electric Underfloor heating is not designed to be fitted under wood, carpet, cork, vinyl or laminate floors.
